LAKE MUNGO

John Brawley has been a freelance cinematographer since 2000, with 5 years prior to that working in house at Lemac.

As a cinematographer he has photographed many broadcast, national TVC and cinema campaigns, both in Australia and the US, NZ, Vietnam and the UK with recent commercial clients include McDonalds, the Australian Defense Force, I Primus and the Melbourne Fashion Festival. In the past year he has shot two nationally broadcast TV shows and a Film Victoria funded TV comedy pilot, “Lowdown”.

With numerous Film Victoria and AFC short film credits, he won an early AFI nomination for his first 35mm short “Bird In The Wire” and a Tropfest best cinematography award for “Like It Is” which he also co-produced. He recently collected an ACS award for cinematography for the Film Victoria funded “Marti’s Party.”

He recently competed his MA in cinematography at AFTRS and his AFTRS graduation film, “Four” directed by Erin White, was recently nominated for an AFI.

John was a co-producer and was instrumental in the early development of the recently completed AFC / Film Victoria indivision feature “Lake Mungo”, which premiered at the Sydney International Film Festival to acclaim.
